Stakeholder Info

Carent Energy Limited is a holding company that intends to use access to potential oil licence interests and its experienced management team to build a world-class multi-asset, development, and production business in Africa. Its founders consist of a group of leading professionals with extensive experience in the upstream international oil sector and in the global fund management/investment banking industries. The Company was incorporated on the 5th of March 2014, with registration number 1175447, and a 10million shareholding capital.

Carent Africa

The Foreign holding in Carent is limited to 20 percent, enabling Carent Energy to satisfy most provisions of Africa Government’s indigenisation legislation, allowing it to benefit from, inter alia, preferential treatment in the award of further licences and increased access to assets. The remaining percentage is split amongst other African shareholders.

Key Investment Proposition

The Directors believe that an investment in the Company should be attractive to potential investors for the following reasons:

  • The goal of the Group is to be an independent E&P group with a pan-African focus, building on its existing opportunities in Nigeria.
  • We began in Nigeria which holds the second largest oil reserves and largest reserves in Africa. There is a long history of discovering and producing oil both onshore and offshore in Nigeria and an extensive pipeline network infrastructure and several export terminals are already in place.
  • Most African Government has stated that they intend to increase the participation of indigenous companies in the development and operation of oil projects.
  • Carent Energy provides its vehicle as an indigenous company that is well positioned to develop the Company’s strategy alongside its indigenous partners. We are geared to work towards most Local Content Act, which gives certain advantages to indigenous companies during bidding rounds for petroleum assets.
  • The Group has an experienced management team with extensive oil industry experience and with significant experience in operations in Sub-Saharan Africa, and a broad range of technical, operational, and financial skills. Management has strong and long-¬developed relationships with Sub-Saharan African governments, IOCs, large independent E&P businesses and companies and global financial institutions.
  • The Group is involved in other business development activities that it hopes will lead to the acquisition of marginal fields in Africa, divestment assets of IOCs and exploration opportunities in selected new basins.
